Common Question & Answer

The following questions are the most common questions asked by patients of Dr. Jeffrey Mah. If you have any other questions, Dr. Mah and our research team would also like to answer them for you.

Q

I am a cancer patient. Through doing research on my own and the introduction from my family and friends, I am intertested in trying to use Chinese medicine to fight my cancer. However, my Western doctor doesn't believe in Chinese medicine and disagree me to try. What should I do?

A:
I have patients asking me this question everyday. Many Western doctors still lack of good understanding of Chinese Medicine, so some of them don't believe it. I don't blame them. Actually, people in the U.S. don't know too much about Chinese medicine until President Nixon visiting China and introducing acupuncture to the U.S. in 20 century. Therefore, Chinese medicine in the U.S. only has 30 years history. Comparing to the 3000 year history of Chinese medicine in China, it's not comparable. However, there are more and more Western doctors and people start to study and accept Chinese Medicine in the U.S. now. I will suggest you do some research of Chinese Medicine, especially take a look at the book " A Hundred Chats of Chinese Medicine against Cancer." You can introduce this book to your doctor and discuss together. I bellieve that his/her opinion may somehow change after he/ she has some understanding of Chinese medicine. If they want to know more about Chinese medicine, I will be happy to talk to them.

Q:
There are surgery, radiotherapy, chemotherapy, etc. in Western medicine. Even though they sometimes can't totally cure diseases, at least the purpose of removing the tumor is clear. Can you tell me what kind of role in fighting cancer does Chinese medicine play? In other words, why should I use Chinese medicine?
A:
The main purpose of using Western medicine to fight cancer, in short, is "to remove," which means to kill cancer cells by the external force. The effect of western medicine treatments is obvious and fast, however, they also seriously damage our body, and we need long time to recover after treatments. On the contrary, the main purpose of using Chinese medicine to fight cancer, in short, is "to adjust," which means to adjust our body function and strengthen our immune system so that the body can kill the cancer cells by itself. Although it will take a while to see the effect of Chinese medicine, the Chinese medicine treatments such as herbal medicine, acupuncture, and diet therapy are very gentle and thoroughgoing. As a conclusion, Chinese and western medicine are complementary. Patients should learn how to take advantages from both sides and get the most benefit.

Q:
What can Western medicine help Chinese medicine? What's not replaceable by Western medicine in Chinese Medicine?
A:

There are four aspects that Western medicine can help for Chinese medicine: First, help to verify the pathological change is whether cancer or not. Second, identify the course of illness (to tell which stage the cancer is on.) Third, to tell the prognosis, meaning that to predict the likely development of the illness. Fourth, clear the pathological chamge in early stage. These four aspects of help are very important to Chinese medicine.

The only one but the most important thing that is not replaceable by Western medicine is the Chinese medical treatment.

Q:
After I became sick, I'd seen a Chinese doctor and taken some herbal medicine. I didn't feel the medicine work, so I thought that Chinese medicine is not helpful at all. How would you say?
A:
One day I talked to someone who was from a famous cancer related group. She told me that they'd invited two Chinese medicine doctors to give speech, but they were disapointing. Since then, the group had bad impression of Chinese medicine and didn't believe in Chinese medicine. I think this story is interesting. And I have to say that one or two people don't represent for the whole group. Lawers, for example, also have outstanding and regular ones, aren't they? So, I would like ask that what kind of Chinese medicine doctor is yours? What is the educational background of his/her? Is his/her clinical experience enough in cancer? I sincerely suggest you doing some research first and get couple good doctors. And then choose better ones to discuss about the illness condition with them. You will eventually find a propre doctor.

Q:
After I got cancer, a part of my friends bought Ling-zhi for me from China, some bought Dong-chong-xia-zao, some gave me Xue-lian, and others recommond me to take medicine such as Cartcell, Tien-xian-yi, 851, etc. I saw many other medicine from the ad. Even your consotherapy is introduced to me by my friends. I am really confused and son't know what to do. Can you help me?
A:
I will suggrest you to select several kinds of medical product that you are interested in, do the research, and find out the answers for the following questions: Who invented this product? What's his/her medical education background? How much is his/her clinical experience? Is there any other clinic using this product? Does the inventor still do the clinical work or direct the clinical workby himself/herself? Does the case shown in the ad only use the product or combine with other treatment to get the effect? Does the company of making the product have good reputation?

Q:

I am not sure whether I got cancer. Can Chinese medicine doctor find out for me?

A:
No. Although traditional and current Chinese medicine have a lot of experience on diagnosing cancer by checking the tongue and pulse feeling, the laboratory exam, X-ray, CT, etc. are still necessary to confirm the cancer. However, the pulse feeling has better diagnosis on the omen of cancer, the change of body type, the damage degree of Zhen-qi, etc.

Q:
What's the difference between Consotherapy and other therapies?
A:
In China, the origin of Chinese medicine, the main methods of treating cancer are still limited in Chinese patent medicine and herbal medicine. Furthermore, most of Chinese medicine doctors work at hospitals which don't have individual department for Chinese medicine, so cancer patients are primarily treated by Western medicine. Chinese medicine is used secondarily. The good thing about this situation is that patients get benefit from both Western and Chinese medicine. The bad thing is that the essence of Chinese medicine is submerged. Consotherapy started in China and compelted in the U.S. The biggest difference between traditional Chinese medicine and Consotherapy is that Consotherapy combines the essence of Chinese medicine and science principles and is created based on the inventor's clinical experience in both China and the U.S. It is an unique, scientific and completed system of Chinese medicine in the worldwide.

Q:
How can patients enjoy the benefit of Consotherapy if they are in other states or even in Japan, Malaysia, or China?
A:
Consotherapy includes small Conso and big Conso. Small Conso contains Consomate number one, herbal medicine, conso paste, diet therapy, and conso acupressure therapy, etc. It is easy for patients to apply by themselves or with the help of their families or friends with the doctor's instruction. That's why we have patients all over the states and other counties like Malaysia, Japan, Australia, Singapore, etc., even though we are only in California. The other part of Consotherapy, which is big Conso, must be applied by the doctor. As I stated above, Consotherapy has a scientific and standard system of fight cancer and keep health. After 17 years experience, it's turn mature and ready to to spread. Therefore we are planning to gradually spread Consotherapy to worldwide. In the future, it will be more convenient for everyone to experience Consotherapy.

Q:
How is Consotherapy applied before, in between, and after the sugery, radiotherapy, and chemotherapy? And, some people said that it's better to avoid Chinese medicine before and in between the radiotherapy and chemotherapy, is it true?
A:
The purpose of apply Consotherapy before surgery, radiotherapy, and chemotherapy is to strengthen the patients' immune system so that they can be strong enough to tolerate the damage of those therapies. And, the purpose of applying Consotherapy during the surgery, radiotherapy, and chemotherapy is to minimize the side effects, and help patients recover from those therapies faster. As for applying Consotherapy after surgery, radiotherapy, and chemotherapy, there are three purposes: First, help patients to repair their body damage caused by the surgery. Second, adjust the body function in order to make the body strong enough to agaist diseases. Third, to prevent the transfer and recurrence of cancer cells.
